New Feature added to XenApp Platinum

Jill Alexander over at Citrix has posted that Citrix is adding the WANScaler client to XenApp Platinum.  You still need an 85xx or 88xx series WANScaler in your datacenter, but the fact that the client can now be installed on the remote workers, road warriors in your company is a great move.  One of Citrix’s competitors in the WAN Optimization space, Riverbed, has a client for mobile workers called Steelhead Mobile.  Citrix has always been behind Riverbed in this space but I think this is a great move for Citrix to narrow the lead a little.

What are the benefits of this feature? 

• Allows the home-based, mobile, or small office user to enjoy the benfits of Wan optimization in situatuions in which an appliance cannot be readily deployed
• Offers comprehensive TCP flow control, advanced compression, and advanced application protocol optimizations to ehnhance productivitiy fo PC users
• Compatible with a wide range of secure remote acess technologies included populat IPsec implementations and Citrix Access Gateway Standard and Advanced Editions
