Citrix Synergy 2008

There has been a lot of chatter around the industry about the upcoming Citrix conference, formerly known as iForum and then the Application Delivery Expo in 2007.  This year’s event is being labled at Citrix Synergy, which in my opinion is taking the company back to their roots from the first conference.  That conference was called “Thinergy”.  This year’s conference is completely different as it will happen in May (instead of October) and be held in Houston (instead of Orlando or Vegas).  Citrix is also wanting to make this an “industry” event where, I hope, a lot of the fluff and smoke are gone.  Let Citrix have the track for management who wants to understand how this plays into their strategy of enabling the business and let the technical folks that attend really dig in.  Now let me say that there are really technical tracks with the HOT (Hands-on Technical workshops) sessions at the end of the conference, but I think there really needs to be more technical, real world, non-marketing censored material.

I’m hopeful for a great conference this year and I hope that the efforts by Citrix will be beneficial for the community as a whole.
